May 22nd 1973 was the day the Ethernet concept was first outlined in a memo
from the young Bob Metcalfe at Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Centre (PARC) and, forty years on, this key moment in the history of human communications is being celebrated
in the form of a two day Ethernet Innovation Summit looking at past, present and

MEF Americas Carrier Ethernet Summit Success - First 20 Carrier Ethernet Certified 2.0 (CE2.0) Companies Announced.



In a year that saw worldwide Ethernet Services delivery surpass all legacy services combined, the MEF Americas Carrier Ethernet Summit reveals the innovation behind this remarkable industry tipping point. January 28-31, 2013 the MEF held it's Americas Carrier Ethernet Summit and MEF Quarterly Meeting in san Diego California.  The event was very successful having a full attendance of telecom industry service providers amd equipment manuufacturers.  A keynote was delivered by Ethernet Inventor Bob Metcalfe and followed with a full day of presentations from telecom leaders and finished with the industry's first Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Certified Companies Announced (click here for press release) 

MEF President Nan Chen, Iometrix President Bob Mandeville and Ethernet Inventor Bob Metcalfe, participated in the press announcement of the industry's first Carrier Ethernet 2.0 awarded companies.  Industry analysts gathered online and at the Palomar Hotel in San Diego for the announcement.

Success at MEF Americas Carrier Ethernet Summit.  300+ in attendance, Bob Metcalfe presents a compelling history of the invention of Ethernet to Carrier Ethernet and the next generation of high speed networks.

How Ethernet Enables Cloud Connectivity

Standards for Ethernet-based cloud connectivity continue to advance. The MEF's Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) initiative provides guidelines for cloud-ready Ethernet services and equipment. Developments are focused on multi-network Interconnectivity, end-to-end SLAs (Service Level Agreements), application-aware QoS (Quality of Service) and dynamic bandwidth provisioning. A new CE 2.0 certification process aims to ensure standards adherence.
