Zayo Expands Phoenix Network
LOUISVILLE, Colo.– May 17, 2012 – Zayo Group today announces it is expanding its fiber footprint in Phoenix, AZ. The expansion will increase the Phoenix network by 165 route miles, a 60% increase over the existing network and 123 new towers. The build will provide presence to the Phoenix Suburbs Peoria, El Mirage, Fountain Hills and Sun City.
With the expansion in Phoenix, along with other markets, Zayo’s tower footprint has over 900 towers under construction; currently the on-net tower footprint is 2,427 while offering more than 100G in overall bandwidth to its tenants. Though Zayo’s expansion was for a specific wireless customer, other customer verticals in the greater Phoenix metro area can benefit from scalable Bandwidth Infrastructure solutions enabled by this build.
“Individual towers are experiencing substantial bandwidth growth, driving the requirement for direct fiber access at these locations,” states Matt Erickson, President of Zayo Fiber Solutions. “Zayo’s network allows our wireless customers to cost effectively address their bandwidth needs.”

Zayo Deploys Low Latency Route Between Chicago and Seattle
LOUISVILLE, Colo.– May 15, 2012 – Zayo Group announces it is enhancing its low latency service between Seattle and Chicago. The improved performance on the route will give Financial, Content and Carrier customers a material latency reduction from what is currently available.
Zayo’s existing service between Seattle and Chicago provides industry-leading latency. The enhanced service, which will be available in the third quarter of 2012, significantly improves latency. The distance of the route will be reduced by approximately 100 route miles. To further reduce latency, the system will be engineered as an express route, with add/drop points being limited to approximately 4 locations. Zayo anticipates reducing latency by 5 – 15% relative to currently available services.
The Wavelength system being deployed will be a native 100G system, which is scalable to 4 terabytes. Zayo will continue to offer service on its existing system, which provides add/drop points in many markets between Chicago, IL and Seattle, WA.

TELE Greenland, Eastlink and Hibernia Atlantic investigate Low Latency Route to Iceland
SUMMIT, NJ & DUBLIN, IRELAND – May 14, 2012 – TELE Greenland, Eastlink and Hibernia Atlantic announce a potential new low latency high bandwidth connection between New York, New York and Landeyajasandur, Iceland. The route would utilize the Greenland Connect cable, owned and operated by TELE Greenland; network facilities owned and operated in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia by Eastlink; and the facilities of Hibernia Atlantic from Halifax to New York. The route would provide the lowest latency possible and could remove up to 1100 kilometers from the existing route.
As the main communications and postal provider for Greenland, TELE Greenland operates an existing cable system, Greenland Connect, which connects Europe and Halifax, Nova Scotia via Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland. The new build in conjunction with Hibernia Atlantic and Eastlink, a key telecommunications provider in Canada, will modify the design of Greenland Connect from Landeyajasandur, Iceland to Milton, Newfoundland via Nuuk, Greenland through the deployment of branching units and a new more direct connection between those branching units.
"Eastlink has a high capacity fibre network in place that links Milton, Newfoundland to Halifax, Nova Scotia,” says Lee Bragg, Eastlink CEO. “This network gives us the ability to further expand to meet the growth in requirement on this leg of the route."
