Is Ethernet the only technology Global Interconnect is based on? What about MPLS, PBB etc.?

Hi,

In order for two networks to interconnect, they need a common frame format.
The E-NNI defines S-tag interface.
This is the way two PBB / PBB-TE clouds would naturally interconnect.
For MPLS-based networks – they do have an underlying Ethernet layer.
There would be some mapping done over the interface.

But to summarize, E-NNI being S-tag interface do facilitate interconnect of the technologies used to carry Ethernet Services.

BTW, E-NNi also enables connecting an MPLS based network to a PBB-TE based network.
